New update to your administration panel

29 July 2024

New administration panel update

What’s New?

  1. Enhanced Administration Application
    • Groups and allocation: Be more effective at managing your resources through a new Groups and allocation dashboard, which replaces current Groups dashboard.
    • streamlined allocation management: View all your groups' project usage in a single, comprehensive view. You can allocate resources in minutes as a metric, with clear percentage display for easy tracking.
    • advanced allocation insights: Easily identify if groups or projects are exceeding their allocation or if there is unassigned time at the hub or group level. Receive warnings and messages to help manage your allocations effectively.
  2. New Capabilities
    • Control group and project consumption: Set up consumption limits to optimize the distribution of your contracted capacity to your members, collaborators, and users.
    • Protect group time: Decide whether the capacity allocated to a group can only be consumed by the users within that group, or accessed from other groups.
  3. Increase Visibility for Collaboration
    • Instance consumption analytics: Access usage analytics from any user account, to better understand queue wait time and usage. Analytics cover total instance usage, individual contributions, and remaining usage time for projects when applicable.

Info

The number of minutes that you previously assigned using shares have been rounded, so that now, one minute is the minimum allocation, and fractions of a minute are disallowed. You may see some alerts or indicators in your hub allocation:

  • An info message of unallocated capacity on your hub or groups. This may be due to the rounding of the shares when converting them to minutes. This won't affect your group's priority, but it is good practice to assign all the time in your hub. The unassigned time can still be consumed by non-limited projects, which is the default.
  • A warning message for groups whose projects may have exceeded the group allocation in minutes. Consider updating these to make sure the limits and distribution of time are properly allocated. Small fractions of shares that previously were below one minute have been rounded up, and one minute is now the minimum allocation. We recommend removing QPU access if you no longer want new usage from a project. You also have the ability to set the allocation as a limit to prevent usage on these projects.

We have also slightly changed the way you add, edit, and remove groups and projects. You can now find these actions within the new "Groups and allocation" section. See more details in the updated Manage group and Manage projects sections.

We hope this upgrade provides you with the control, visibility, and efficiency you have been asking for to best manage your IBM Quantum resources. We remain committed to continue improving your experience with our services, and are excited for you to try these new features.
